Which Language should I Learn?


Hard work and time is needed in learning a language most especially if you want to be fluent in your desired language. If you love language, this is a valid reason for anyone to start studying language, although most of the time it is not so easy for others. One should never study a language unless you really want to. Language studying is a time commitment and could take several years to master, depending entirely on how hard and how much you learn. 

There are times when there is no other choice on which language you will take up. You may be marrying a person from another country and want to communicate with the family of your partner. You may be migrating to another country and want to be able to communicate. Or maybe you have an interest or a hobby based in a country other than your own and you may want to understand the hobby better. Or perhaps you may plan a trip to a country and want to gather everyday conversational phrases in the language of that country. 

For whatever reasons, there are a number of decisive factors to consider when determining a language to learn. You should consider the availability of learning the language whether getting information within your neighborhood, or language learning reinforcement with cultural exchanges like in a television or radio shows. In certain places, Spanish or French are readily accessible and thus continuous exposure to the language desired will be easy. 

If you live in a community consisting of a big ethnic population, choosing the language of that population is sensible as the learning the said language is existing already and will be vital in communicating with the neighbors within the community. Choosing a language to study in school will also be important to consider, as some languages in the field that you are interested in are required by some companies. 

It is a real challenge to study a language that has an entirely different alphabet like Greek or a completely different writing system like the ideograms of the Chinese language. Be aware that it may be so difficult for you that you may decide not to pursue it eventually. It is advisable to learn a language that does not have too many obstacles in studying it. But if you find such a challenge to be exciting even if it is hard, maybe you should decide to go for it. 

A closer look around you will reveal that there are hundreds of different languages spoken all around within your community. There are already different forms of media communication already in the present times like in books, newspapers, movies, magazines, television programs and even in the internet. All of these forms come in various different languages. You may never know there are infinite ways to learn new things about people that are living near you. 

So in deciding which language to learn, it should be a simple decision once you really decide to study language at all.
