Frames Direct Review

Framesdirect offer you a wide variety of contact lenses which can be searched for by brand name or by category. The site is not the easiest to navigate with most links being at the bottom of the page in small letters and more emphasis is put on eyeglasses rather than contact lenses, having said this the system of alphabetical order does make it easier to find the lens you want and they do have an advanced search function which you can type into. Framesdirect have the standard customer service features such as telephone number, email address and the inclusion of live support though when I tried accessing this feature they were offline but that could have been due to the fact it was a weekend.

Overall Selection :

The overall selection of lenses is pretty good though not the best that I have seen; they have a big range of Acuvue lenses from the Acuvue advance, bifocals, coloured 2, toric and Oasys. Other well known brands are available such as Durosoft, Expressions and Soflens. Framesdirect also stock a range of coloured lenses from Acuvue colours 2 enhancers, Freshlook colour blends and Natural touch colours. They also stock special effects lenses from Wild eyes and Illusions.

Delivery Options :

Next day delivery is available by FedEx for $19.99, priority delivery in 2 to 3 business days for $6.99 and standard delivery by mail is free and will take roughly 7 to 10 days from your order being processed.  Deliveries to other countries vary.

Framesdirect offer you a fair price guarantee and say they will try there best to match any price found at similar online store.

Ease Of Use :

Framesdirect isn’t one of the easiest sites I have navigated although listing lenses in alphabetical order does make it easier to find the lens you’re looking for. I think one of the problems with Framesdirect is the fact that they don’t just sell contact lenses specifically. The site doesn’t offer anything special in customer support or help features just the standard e mail address and phone number. There was however the option of live support but when I tried it no one was available this could have been due to the fact that it was a weekend. The site lacks a faq page or at least I couldn’t find one nor any advice on prescriptions.

Website Security :

Framesdirect is a secure site it uses Thawte with SSL encryption which allows safe use of your credit card information. It is also hacker safe and meets security demanded by the US government.

Summary :

Framesdirect wouldn’t be my first choice of sites to visit if I were considering purchasing lenses online; they do have a decent range of lenses such as Acuvue which seem to be the more popular choice among users. Finding lenses is mainly based on by brand, they do have a category option but the only ones listed under it or coloured lenses and costume lenses. I would have liked to have been able to choose by 1 day, toric e.t.c.
