Occasions for Flowers
Flowers are used for a variety of occasions. They make excellent gifts in addition to providing a great atmosphere within the home or area of the receiver.
Flowers sent for a birthday can be a fun and unique way of celebrating the special day with friends or family. You can purchase or create a fun gift basket to accompany the flowers. Here is an idea for a 50th birthday. Buy or make a small tombstone like cake or figure (keeping with the fun 50th birthday tradition of black), Attach some fun loving 50th birthday balloons with the creative sayings like “Over the hill” or something to that effect. I especially like asking, “So is the grass really greener on the other side?” knowing full well that when I reach my 50th birthday I’ll get my well deserved payback.
At any rate, birthdays are meant to be fun. So with that 50th birthday bundle include a nice arrangement of black and white flowers, or really any color flowers, but black and white fit in well with the color scheme of this particular birthday. In my mothers recent 50th birthday we added a 6 pack of prune juice. We are certainly in for a major pay back when the time comes.
You can create a fun basket for any age though regardless of it’s a milestone birthday or not. For the 21st birthday, you can choose flowers with festive colors and include some fun things for the 21st birthday. For a younger child’s birthday, purchase or create a cartoon character flowerpot or planter and include the plant, preferably one easy for a child to maintain and grow.
For other occasions like anniversaries, keep with tradition according to the anniversary. It has is very easy to purchase flowers of any color so matching it with the proper milestone color would be extremely possible. For example, gold and silver flowers for the major anniversaries.
For a new baby, obtain an arrangement coordinating with the child’s gender, pink for a girl, blue for a boy add some baby’s breath to the arrangement.
Mother’s day is a wonderful time to send flowers. Mothers always love to receive flowers. Carnations or roses are the most common types of flowers sent on mother’s day and they are the flowers that symbolize love and affection. For large families one flower for each child is a wonderful idea, attaching the name attractively of each child on the flowers. Smaller families can divide up a dozen, for example, with 2 children a half a dozen each. This will help save money and give mom a great gift.
For a longer lasting gift, consider a rose bush or a tree. Planting them together will create a lasting memory that will surface time and time again with each glance. Bring grandkids together for a truly memorable experience.
Other occasions on which to send flowers are Christmas and Easter. These holidays typically have a specific type of flower(s) that are most notably associated with the occasion.
