New Tangled Technology

Having recently spent a lot of time browsing through online fax service providers and learning how cheaply and quickly online faxing is I remembered an incident that happened a few weeks ago to me. Now I am a complete fax novice in fact I have to admit until very recently I had never sent a single fax in my life, it was only when my bank needed some important papers I had and they called me and asked me could I fax them over to them?. So I said yes no problem…Easy I thought and went to my local library and set about faxing them….but how?...Here sat before me a huge bulky machine with feeders and so many buttons and lights…which way did the papers have to go into the machine?...did they go in the top or the bottom?...What were the confusing array of buttons lined up on the machine?....How would I know my bank had in fact received the documents?...Looking befuddled at the machine I asked the assistant in the library to help me. He looked at me as though I was the dumbest person on earth for not knowing how to send a simple fax and started talking really slow to me as though I was not right in the head. Anyway eventually I got there though to me simple it wasn’t and wondered on the short walk home why I couldn’t have just scanned in the documents at home and e mailed them as jpg, after all isn’t that just the same as faxing?...So a smile came to my face when recently I was asked to write several reviews for non other than online faxing, now this I had never heard of either but wonders never cease and within minutes of pointing my browser at the first site to review I was fascinated by how so much easier this concept was. My idea of scanning the said documents of mine had me laughing because here was my answer, yes it is so much easier to scan in the document and attach it to email because that’s basically what was on offer here in these sites. I could have scanned the document easily…well easier than using the fax machine anyway but that’s another story, signed up for an internet fax account with one of the many providers and hey presto write my mail which I do know how to do easily and attach the document all from the comfort of my chair and without having to leave the house. I would have saved on the phone call to my bank to ask if they got my fax because here the service would have mailed and told me it had been sent. I would for sure know which I would prefer using if I were going to be sending a lot of fax, the technology of the future would win every time without a doubt.
