Music Notation Software has came along way in the last few years; there are programs offered to musicians that can basically do everything except actually go to the shows and perform the music…and no doubt that will be in the works, soon. For those wanting to streamline their music notation software packages and customize exactly what they need without spending tons of money on expensive and “do-it-all” music programs- there is the Finale Family of music notation software. One particular program that has quiet a lot of great features is PrintMusic 2010.
Features :
The Finale family of music notation software is broken down into varying programs that allow users to choose exactly which software program best suits their needs. The PrintMusic 2010 software program allows the user to create great music with 128 instrument sounds including marching percussions. The software program fully supports VST/AU instrument and effects libraries, as well. Therefore, if the software doesn’t have everything you want- you can always add more. There is the Human Playback, a state-of-the-art system that allows your music to sound professional and as if you were hearing live musicians play their music. This is terrific considering I’ve tried a lot of other software programs that sound very synthetic. You have the ability to burn your music to CD or save them as an MP3 file. You can create up to 24 staves and print your score or just parts- great if you’re teaching, in a choir, or in a band.
Ease of Use :
The Finale Family makes their software easy for anyone to use- even me. I found the download a breeze because there’s the setup wizard that literally helps you throughout the process. You can use your mouse to create or hook up your MIDI keyboard- notes appear instantly in automated spacing makes your sheet music easy to read. Playback is wonderful and easy, as well. You can follow along with the cursor and edit as you go; replay your new version without skipping a beat.
Pricing :
The full version of PrintMusic 2010 is available at Finale for just $99.95; however, if you are already a Finale customer; you can get a great deal either by upgrading your current PrintMusic software package or trading up from Finale SongWriter, NotePad Plus or NotePad.
Summary :
Overall the Finale Family has a lot to give those in the music production and learning fields. They have great tools for teachers and composers; as well as, wonderful methods for students wanting to learn about composition and song writing. All of the Finale products feature easy wizards to help aid the user; as well as, quick start videos- the Finale family have long been the true leader in music notation. The new PrintMusic 2010 software package is no exception to this rule- it rocks!
